Welcome to the website of Physical education. Here are some answers to different questions: I grade on 4 different grading scales. They are broken down this way: K, Grades 1 and 2, Grades 3, 4, and 5, and finally grades 6 - 8. The rubric found under Physical Education is used in Grades 6 - 8. Tennis shoes are required for participation in this class. I change units approximately each month; The Janurary units are: Kindergarten through 3rd grade has Balloon Play, Big Ball Volleyball Grades 4 - 6 does volleyball skill development, Lead-up games to volleyball, uses different sizes of volleyballs and finally games will be played Grades 7 - 8 will review volleyball skills, and begin to play volleyball. I ask that all games are played with two hits. They will end their unit with the student/Faculty Volleyball game during Catholic Schools week This is also the time historically that Spanish and P.E. run an interdiciplanary unit of Spanish Volleyball. Grading Rubric for Physical Education Grades 6 - 8 Written Tests 15% Homework, speciality assignments including Health Assignments 15% Daily Participation 70% Each student receives 5 points daily. The student will: Show respect toward others by having a positive attitude in class Demonstrate a good effort according to ones own ability level Participate with the spirit of good sportsmanship and cooperation Participate in an inclusive manner Respect and use equipment in a proper manner Demonstrate knowledge and skills of activity through assignments, tests, and daily participation Loss of points: 1 point coming unprepared to class ( hair, shoes etc.) 1 point tardy to class 1 point disruptive behavior 1 point poor sportsmanship 1 point disrespect to another person 1 point disrespect of equipment 2 points Gum, candy etc in mouth at any time in P.E. class Excused absences will not result in loss of points These points will be totaled for quarter grade There areno extra credit points possible in Physical Education |
